Sarah or Hagar?
I was thinking about the power of the woman of God in the life of a man of God, and meditating on those days about Sarah, I read a verse that caught my attention …
Then God said: “No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this set time next year.” Genesis 17: 19-21
We see that the important thing was not only the seed of Abraham, because he had a son with a servant. Even the servant even did things, because she was “servant”, but only did, not “was.”
So, unfortunately, there are many in the Work of God, people who only do, but are not of God. They obey the man, as Hagar did from the beginning, but they do not hear the Voice of God.
When Sarah left Haran with Abraham, it was not out of obligation, but because she trusted in the voice of God to her husband. They begat Isaac, and God said He would make a covenant with him, but with Ishmael he would bless him only because of Abraham.
For example, how many “Ishmael (s)” were born of Hagar in our midst? Pastors, wives, workers who were even “blessed” and did many things because they used the Name of Jesus and the Word, but there was no covenant with God! And worse, afterwards, they became enemies of the covenant people, bringing discord and trouble to the people of God, as Ishmael’s descendants bring to this day!
But on the other hand, when we see someone being spiritually begotten by a Sarah, we know that from there will someone be born like Isaac, who made a covenant with the Lord. These are people who remain, who are afraid of the things of God, walk in the presence of God and are perfect!
If the person is like Sarah, he will bear children in covenant with God. But if it is as Hagar, who is only “servant”, does the work but does not have life with God, will generate only “Ishmael (s)” in the Work of God.
That is why, the more “Sarah’s” there are in our midst, the more people in covenant with God will be in the Work!
And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.
Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. Genesis 21: 9-10
Here we see why Sarah no longer wanted Ishmael near Isaac. At the time, he even seemed to be someone who had no sympathy for the boy who was only 14 years old, and Isaac, 7 years old! But Ishmael scoffed …
Nowadays we see many sons of Hagar mocking Sarah’s children, of those who want to do right, always want to obey the leadership, do everything to please God and thus perfect to perfection, living a castrated life, the famous “church home or rice with beans”. We are always mocked for it! Perhaps Isaac even did something that pleases God, and Ishmael mocked him.
Further on, we see that when Abraham, not agreeing with Sarah, went to consult God, but God agreed with Sarah to send Hagar and Ishmael out.
Sometimes, many will not agree with us on a particular issue, especially in doing right, but God yes! For when one wants to please God, as did Sarah, there always appears an Ishmael who stays in the same tent trying to influence Isaac to displease God.
So it is with many who leave our milieu. God even allows the way out so as not to corrupt His children, those born of God and bearing children born of Him.
