Every day, 100 Americans are killed with guns and hundreds more are shot and injured, The effects of gun violence extend far beyond these casualties. and it shapes the lives of millions of Americans who witness it, know someone who was shot or live in fear of the next shooting.

This is why the You Power Group (YPG) partnered with SOS Save our Streets and marched for peace. The march started at 4 at Herbert Von King ParkAnd ended at restoration Plaza. The purpose of this march was to make people aware that Gun violence is unacceptable. However in Bedstuy “do or Die” we are marching to let people know that in Bedstuy we will promote life and unity. During the march, towels were provided with a powerful message to stop Gun Violence.

Throughout the month members of the Youth Power Group go to different places to bring a positive message every day. The YPG goes out with the motivation to help those who are suffering. Many youths have benefited from the YPG by taking the opportunity to join and experience amazing changes within themselves.

Facts & Statistics

In America, which has one of the highest rates of gun homicide in the world, cities experience gun violence at further elevated rates. Ameri­cans are 25 times more likely to be shot to death than resi­dents of other comparably wealthy nations. GUN ASSAULTS Every day, 100 Americans are killed with guns and hundreds more are shot and injured.

The effects of gun violence extend far beyond these casual­ties-gun violence shapes the lives of millions of Americans who witness it, know someone who was shot, or lives in fear of the next shooting. In American cities, when a crime turns deadly, it is almost exclusively because of a gun.

An assault committed with a gun is at least five times more likely to result in death than an assault with a knife. As a result, most fatal violence in cities is committed with guns-nine out of ten homicides in some cities – and the difference between America’s safest cities and its most dangerous ones is almost entirely a matter of gun violence.
