I was addicted to marijuana
Life was stressful, I didn’t know my real parents.
I was adopted and my adopted mother passed away, therefore, I was living from home to home. I kept to myself and never wanted to get close to people neither trust in anyone.
I couldn’t get jobs because I was addicted to Marijuana. I had the impression that smoking made me feel at peace when rough times would come but it was an illusion. I used to pretend that I was happy and hide a deep pain inside of me.
It took me a while to come to the YPG. I was facing a lot of problems, however, I realized once I started attending the YPG Connections, things started to get better and I started to open up. Being part of the YPG, I gained confidence, I learned how to value myself and not worry about what other people think about me.
I don’t need to smoke nor drink anymore. I’m happier I have a job and I’m pushing every day to better myself. – Shaniqua, NY
